Overview

Small, friendly, well-established English Language Academy seeks a TEFL teacher for the academic year 2022 / 2023 starting Monday, September 12th.
Our academy is located in the vibrant, northern sea-side city of Gijón, in the stunning region of Asturias.
We are looking for a dynamic, creative English teacher to join our school. The successful candidate will teach English to small groups of students (up to 8 maximum) from 3 years old, teenagers and adults.
They will have to teach according to our schemes of work and be able to evaluate and mark students´ work and to communicate their progress to parents. They must be familiar with the communicative approach to teaching English, classroom management methods and be able to raise and maintain motivation among our learners. We expect teachers to prepare classes using the materials provided, but also to add creative activities, games and projects to the classes. They will also have to either teach or team- teach Cambridge exams classes (KET, PET, FCE and CAE).

The typical working hours are from Monday to Thursday between 15:30 and 20:30. Fridays between 15:30 and 17:00
Duration: September 2022 to the end of June 2023 with the possibility of becoming a permanent contract

Teachers are provided with a very competitive salary and general health coverage according to Spanish law and fully paid school holidays. We also cover all regional and national holidays.

Salary

Very competitive salary, all national, regional and local holidays together with Christmas and Easter breaks paid
Up to 22 hours contact time per week
Full Social Security coverage
Employed under a Spanish legal contract ending June 29th, 2023, with the possibility of extending it to become a permanent contract


Qualifications

Skills Required:

CELTA teaching certificate or University degree (Modern Languages, if possible) or/ and recognised TEFL teaching qualification
Native English speaker
Must enjoy working with young children and teenagers
Intermediate knowledge of Spanish
Familiarity with Cambridge Examinations would be advantageous (YLE, KET, PET, FCE, CAE)
EU passport holders or permission to work in Spain
Basic IT skills
