Overview
University of Maryland University College (UMUC) seeks Contingent I employees to teach non-credit ESL classes
ESL instructors will be responsible for teaching English Language Learners (ELL) basic literacy skills in speaking, writing, reading and listening. ESL instructors will deliver Conversational, Professional/Business and TOEIC preparation courses to students over various term lengths. They will also assess student learning to provide students feedback on their English literacy skills development. These instructors will also be responsible for basic administrative duties related to monitoring the academic performance of their students.
Required Education and Experience:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree conferred
- Teaching experience in TESOL, ESL, or related field
- Experience teaching adult learners preferred
- Local applicants with individual logistical support (ILS) only. Applicants must already have and be able to maintain ILS, meaning that they must possess a U.S. military ID card and SOFA from an external source, as this position does not offer ILS.
