Overview

Pangea Idiomas offers classes, translations and interpretations in 9 different languages. We have more than 20 staff from all over the world, most of whom are native speakers in the language they teach, translate or interpret.

We give classes both at the school's facilities and in the client's facilities. Most students take 3 hours per week so the classes could be three 1 hour classes, two 1.5 hour classes or one 3 hour class depending on their availability (the majority prefer two 1.5 hour classes). Most of the classes are individual but at the school the maximum number of students is 4 per class so the groups are very small. In some of the companies that we work in the groups are larger and could have from 5 to 12 students.

We have a wide range of students including executives, assistants, factory workers, housewives, university students, young children and teenagers. The teaching style we prefer is based on a communicative approach. The whole idea is to get the student communicating in English and to ensure that they can understand when speaking with a native speaker. Grammar and vocabulary exercises are important but not the main focus.

The school opens from 7 to 9.30pm from Monday to Friday and on Saturday we work from 8am to 3pm. Saturday is normally our busiest day as that's when most of out students have free time.

Working hours vary between these hours and could include classes both at the school and in companies. The average number of teaching hours per week is 20-25 but we have more hours available for those who wish to work more. The job would be working a split shift schedule of early morning and evening classes. Normally there aren't so many classes during the day because most of the students work or go to school. The schedule would not be the same every day. Some days you'd work less than others - it all depends on the days the students prefer to come.

We offer subsidised housing for teachers, in a shared house within 10 minutes walk from the school.
Free Spanish classes and/or subsidised language classes.
Bachelor degree and/or TEFL course preferred; however, we will consider all applicants.
