Our English school in Xian is now holding interviews for the position of English language teachers. Our schools are modern, well equipped and progressive and classes are based on North American syllabus and text books. We teach small classes of students, mainly children from ages 5 – 14. This breadth and variety of students gives our teachers great opportunity to develop into well rounded, experienced professionals. In addition, we offer a continuous teacher development program of training, observations and workshops.

Xi’an – The City
Xi’an is the second most visited city in China, mainly due to its status as home of the Terracotta Warriors and it being the former capital of China for 13 dynasties.

Together with Athens, Rome and Cairo, Xian is one of the most famous of the ancient cities; rich in a history that spans thousands of years. Xi’an, meaning ‘West Peace’ is the capital of Shaanxi province and is conveniently located in the center of China. The Terracotta Army is located in the satellite tombs to the mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shihuang. The site was discovered in March 1974 when farmers found many broken pottery figures while sinking a well in Xianyang village.

In the evening, the city illuminates providing a striking setting for the myriad of traditional Chinese restaurants, bright modern shopping malls, coffee shops and bars which make for an entertaining night out.

Main Responsibilities
-Maximum of 40 hours working per week (usually less)
-Maximum of 20 classes per week (45 minutes per class)
-Student ages: 5 – 14 year olds
-Lesson planning
-Conduct fun and interactive lessons
-Carry out teaching related responsibilities including, but not limited to demonstration classes, conversation clubs, tutorials, seminars and presentations
-Attend school’s events

Compensation
-Base salary: 13,000 - 14,000 RMB per month (depending on qualifications and experience)
-Free accommodation provided
-Arrival 5 day hotel allowance on provision of receipt
-Contract completion bonus: 10,000 RMB
-Legal ‘Z’ work visa provided
-12 days public holidays plus 1 month paid personal holidays
-Health insurance provided
-Monthly performance bonus: 1,000 RMB
-Annual salary increase
-On-going training and academic support

Requirements
-Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or Ireland
-BA degree or above
-TEFL certificate 120 hours plus required (No TEFL? – We recommend INTESOL www.GoldStarTeachers.com/INT ESOL)
-Plenty of passion and energy
-2 years of teaching experience preferred
