ORGANISATION INFORMATION:
The Chatteris Educational Foundation is a personal and friendly non-profit charitable organisation helping Hong Kong students improve their English. We also develop young leaders while promoting cultural exchange and global awareness. Chatteris works in partnership with schools to sponsor young people from around the world to experience a year of personal and professional development in Hong Kong. This year we have more than 50 university graduates placed in schools.

JOB TITLE:
Chatteris Native-speaking English Tutor (CNET)

JOB DESCRIPTION:
CNETs being sponsored through Chatteris will take part in the Chatteris International Graduate Programme. Through this programme, CNETs will be working in collaboration with their school and Chatteris to develop fun and interactive ways of improving students’ English through lessons, various English programmes and extra-curricular activities. As a CNET, you will be placed full time in a local school allowing you to make a real difference in the lives and learning experience of the Chinese school children you work with. You will also have the opportunity to develop a lasting insight into the Hong Kong and Chinese culture and to form lifelong international friendships with the team of CNETs working alongside you. Chatteris organizes regular monthly cultural and social activities such as Chinese medicine seminars, Cantonese Lessons and Tai Chi to help bring cultures and people together.

Teaching in a school environment is a challenging and rewarding experience and will develop many transferable skills; such as confidence, flexibility, leadership and communication. We aim to help every CNET make the most out of their time in Hong Kong and successful applicants will be excited by the prospect of working for a NGO on a more personal level. By working closely with the Project Management Team and the other CNETs, you will have a real input into the future of the organisation and extra opportunities to develop your skills (and CV!)

With up to 30 days holiday during your contract, there are also ample opportunities to travel China and Asia.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Enthusiastic, fun and outgoing recent graduates who are keen to be part of an international team in Hong Kong. An interest in Chinese culture and desire to be immersed in a different way of life is a necessity. Applicants must be keen to learn from their various experiences and be both positive and open towards the various challenges they may encounter. Collaboration and teamwork is also strongly valued within the Chatteris International Graduate Programme.

REQUIREMENTS:
University graduates in any discipline; native English speaker or native-level English competence; excellent clarity of speech; must have a keen interest in working with children or teenagers or perhaps considering a teaching career. No previous experience needed- we are looking for the right personality.
