Overview
DClanguage is excited to offer an excellent opportunity for an ESL / EFL instructor who is looking for a varied, challenging, and rewarding chance to teach English in Tokyo, Japan. We are hiring 1 dedicated full time instructor to start work the week of August 20th, 2007, for a one year renewable contract. We are looking for an instructor who is a reliable, motivated, friendly self-starter with varied interests and a real desire to teach English as a second language. A successful candidate will be from North America (able to relocate to the Nerima, Tokyo area), native speaker, and possess at least a four year university degree. Applicants need not be in Japan to apply. Resumes will only be accepted by email (no faxes / phone calls).
Teaching ESL or some comparable experience is required. Familiarity with the Macintosh operating system is a plus (computers are utilized in the classrooms for teaching, and for keeping all records) as there are no "Windoze" machines (we do offer training on the Mac OS). The ability to work professionally, in a team environment, without constant supervision, is a must.
The instructor would be required to fulfill 120 teaching and or office hours per month, Monday - Saturday (some Fridays or Saturdays possibly off). All Sundays are off along with all Japanese national holidays. We offer 10 days paid vacation or sick days per year. The school is closed for 7-14 days over the Christmas / New Year holiday season (days closed depend upon the calendar and other factors). The weekly schedule is changeable.
The base remuneration is ?250,000-255,000 per month. In addition, we offer small summer and winter bonuses (about ?0,000 each, the amount depending on economic conditions at the time the bonuses are given out), a ?40,000 completion bonus, and a ?20,000 "settling" bonus at the time the instructor relocates to Nerima (these bonuses bring the monthly salary to about ?56,000-261,000). The instructor can expect a small raise in salary after six months, with the amount based on the instructor's job performance and economic conditions at the time.
We facilitate a working visa and provide sponsorship. Additionally, we offer non-monetary assistance in locating housing, a telephone line, and other "life necessities".
Sorry, we cannot pay for airfare or relocation costs beyond the ?0,000 "settling" bonus.
