About the Job
Overview
TEACH IN PULI, TAIWAN - the gateway to the mountains!
STARTING IN NOVEMBER 2019
UKids requires one qualified, native-speaking English Language teacher.
UKids, is a family-run (English/Taiwanese couple) business based in Puli Town (Pop. 60,000), Central Taiwan. Puli is a relaxed, countryside-town surrounded by the central mountain range of Taiwan. The job will allow people plenty of time for exploration of the nearby mountains, villages, lakes, rivers and waterfalls. The large city of Taichung (Pop. 2,000,000), is only 40 minutes away by bus.
The school was started in 2006 with one teacher. Over the last 10 years we have had two native-speaking teachers (our previous teachers may be contacted in reference to the post). We have approximately 150-200 students. Classes are taught 100% by the native-speakers. Students are aged 8-14 with a maximum class-size of 18 children. The classes are planned and taught solely by the foreign teacher with an English speaking, Taiwanese assistant in class to mark homework and aid in any translation necessary. Classes are 2 hours in duration with a 10-15 minute break. All classes are in the afternoon and evening, finishing at 8:30. The school is only open Monday-Friday.
This is a challenging and extremely rewarding job in an exciting and beautiful part of the world. Hours available may vary between 20 and 24 contact-hours per week. Residential-visa (ARC) and work-permit will be provided. The job has a highly competitive wage, 650-750 NT$/contact-hour (depending on experience) - which enables people to easily save money. Applicants will need a university degree, a TEFL qualification, a professional attitude, and to be out-going, open-minded and flexible. Teachers must be good with children and be able to teach in a fun, engaging and serious manner. Teachers must also be able to sign a one-year contract.
The cost of a one way flight to Taiwan will be reimbursed to the teacher upon completion of half of the contract. The job has 4-5 weeks of holiday each year and a further five days of National Holiday. The teacher will, of course, be helped in attaining a good, well-priced level of accommodation, transport (if required) and both National and private health insurance. Taxation in Taiwan works out at around 10%. On-the-job training will be given by highly experienced staff.
