The Job
Our public middle & high School is now holding interviews for English teachers to join us in the fascinating city of Chonburi, located on the eastern coast of Thailand. If you are a creative teacher, have an interest in an authentic Thai school setting and can deliver learner centered, engaging lessons then we are interested in speaking with you.
We seek foreign teachers to enhance our public middle and high schools' English development to keep pace with the fast-moving development of the world. The English program is a highly respected program at our school and the students must be tested to be placed into it.
Teaching materials and resources are provided by the school and are targeted to the age of the students being taught. Teachers will be teaching students aged from 13 to 18 years old on a Monday to Friday schedule with a maximum of 20 teaching hours per week. Materials follow the Thai national school curriculum and our own developed programs. Teachers are encouraged to adapt and supplement the materials where need be to ensure classes are engaging and interesting.
Our goal is to internationalize education in the public sector, and create a relaxed and friendly environment to enable students to gain confidence in their spoken English. We take professionalism in teaching seriously, and as part of that offer regular professional development sessions to assist our staff in their own development, enabling them to reach higher standards both in the short term and in the future. Chonburi – The City
Chonburi is the capital of Chonburi Province and Mueang Chonburi District in Thailand. It is 100 km south-east of Bangkok and only 1.5 hour drive, located on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand. The name means "city of water". Chonburi, along with other areas along the coast to Pattaya, forms a conurbation known as the Pattaya-Chonburi Metropolitan Area.
Chonburi has a tropical savanna climate. Winters are fairly dry and very warm. The city has a lot of exciting attractions to offer including numerous amazing beaches & seashores, and ancient cultural temples. You have the opportunity to soak in the amazing nature here.
Main Responsibilities
-Maximum of 20 teaching hours per week (usually less)
-Maximum of 15 admin hours per week (usually less)
-Commit to 4 months contract (one semester) with an option to extend for longer
-Monday to Friday classes with evenings and weekends off
-Student ages: 13 - 18 years old
-Deliver learner centered, engaging lessons to students
-Ensure equal participation of all students
-Actively participate in professional development workshops and activities
-Attend school activities, parties and other events
Compensation
-Excellent base salary: 30,000 Thai Baht monthly
-Monthly housing allowance: 5,000 Thai Baht
-Arrival 5 day hotel allowance provided on provision of receipt
-Contract completion bonus: 5,000 Baht
-National holidays (paid) plus 2 months spring vacation in March & April (no pay), additional I month holiday in October if you renew the contract (paid)
-Work visa provided
-Professional pre-job training with on-going program supervision
Requirements
-Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or Ireland
-Bachelor’s degree or above
-TEFL / TESOL certificate required (No TEFL? – We recommend INTESOL www.GoldStarTeachers.com/INTESOL)
-Teaching experience preferred (non-experience teachers are accepted)
-Clean criminal record
-Professional, positive and culturally aware
