The Job
We are now looking for enthusiastic, positive and qualified English teachers with an adventurous spirit to teach in public schools in Chengdu or other cities in Sichuan province.
You will have a light schedule of around 15 to 20 classes per week, with plenty of free time to explore and travel around the beautiful countryside. Our teachers will be assigned to public schools that we partner with from kindergarten up to college. We provide free accommodation nearby the school. If you are looking for adventures in this fascinating part of China but do not have a TEFL certificate, we will provide a one week TEFL training program for you before you go on to your assigned school.

Sichuan is the gateway to Tibet and is home to many Tibetan towns and prefectures.
Chengdu the City
Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan Province, which is known as the "Heavenly State", located in the West of China next to Tibet. Being the natural habitat of cute giant pandas, Chengdu is located in the west of Sichuan Basin and in the center of Chengdu Plain. It covers a total area of 12.3 thousand square kilometers with a population of over 11 million. People from Chengdu tend to eat spicy food. Local specialties include Grandma Chens Tofu, Chengdu Hot pot, and Dan Dan Mien literally meaning "Noodles carried on a pole". Chengdu outnumbers Shanghai in the number of tea houses and bars despite having less than half the population. The inhabitants have a reputation in China for having a laid back attitude and for knowing how to enjoy life.
Main Responsibilities
o Maximum of 25 to 30 teaching hours per week (usually around 20 hours)
o Maximum of 20 admin hours for kindergartens
o Monday to Friday work schedule with weekends off
o Student age: kindergarten to primary students (depend on your assigned school)
o Plan lessons and classroom activities
o Follow the schools curriculum and cooperate well with Chinese staff
Compensation
o Monthly base salary: 7,000 to 14,000 RMB based on experience & qualifications
o Airport pick up and hotel stay provided during the first week of TEFL training
o Free accommodation near the school provided or monthly housing allowance up to 2,500 RMB
o Flight allowance provided on contract completion: 5,000 RMB
o All public holidays provided (full pay) plus 2 months summer vacation (no pay) & 1 month winter vacation (no pay) (we can provide summer school working opportunities)
o Legal Z work visa provided
o Health insurance provided
o On going support provided
Requirements
o Bachelors degree required
o TEFL certificate 120 hours plus preferred (If you do not have TEFL, you will need to join our TEFL program in China for the first week and the costs will be reimbursed on contract completion) (No TEFL? We recommend INTESOL, est. 1993, 50% discounts: www.GoldStarTeachers.com/INTESOL)
o Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland (non native speakers with a degree in Education or a degree from a native country may apply)
o 2 years of relevant teaching experience preferred (we can consider non experienced teachers)
o Clean criminal record check
o Fluency in oral and written English
o Energetic, friendly and hard working
