JOB SUMMARY

We are a small, not for profit school established in 2002 in a safe and beautiful part of Mexico. We work with standards set in the CEFRL and are seeking individuals with a genuine interest in teaching, assisting others and being part of a learning community. Living and teaching in Chiapas will allow you to experience the best nature in all of Mexico and modern life surrounded by indigenous culture and colonial history. We are located 1.5 hours from San Cristobal and enjoy good weather.

DETAILS OF POSITION

Mission:
Our students are at the heart of everything we do. At Culturalia we strive to create a genuine partnership in education and culture; we encourage self-reliance, honesty and respect, we constantly look for ways to improve ourselves and we expect our partners to share our efforts.

Vision:
Culturalia will be an organisation working at the highest levels of quality in teaching. We will provide a stimulating environment and will promote enthusiasm for learning to break the cycle that hinders personal and professional growth.

Teaching here:
We offer after-school general English courses to kids, teenagers and adults. They are high-quality courses targeted at all levels of English language learning (A1 to B2 and exam preparation eg TOEFL, FCE, CAE) that follow the standards set out in the CEFRL.

Teachers are hired as independent professionals working for the organisation to bring students up to the next level of English each semester. At the moment, we use a communicative language teaching approach and task-based activities to train students in the four skills - Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. We also teach and test English grammar.
Teachers are expected to plan and organise their lessons using the syllabus, road map and textbook as their tools. Nonetheless, teachers are also encouraged to use their creativity and authentic resources to facilitate the learning process and widen students horizons. We advocate the use of technology in the classroom with current media that is relevant and engaging to students.

We have rules and regulations specified in our Child Protection Code of Conduct, Ministry of Educations rules, Privacy Statement and Schools Rules and Regulations which teachers are expected to follow and respect during their employment here.
