Flexible or full-time fixed-term, renewable contract, China
Working as an IELTS Examiner for the British Council in China gives you the chance to explore far more than your skills and abilities. With flexible or full-time fixed-term contracts that are renewable based on performance, we offer you the scope and opportunity to discover every aspect of Chinese culture, while assessing written and spoken English skills.
Your role
Based at one of our British Council offices in Beijing, Chongqing, Guangzhou or Shanghai, you’ll travel to a variety of locations across China to assess candidates in their use of English. This can involve long-distance journeys and extended stays away from your base, so we’ll give you plenty of help with travel arrangements, hotel bookings and support if you get delayed. You’ll also be able to plan your own downtime, so you can explore China around each assignment.
What we offer
We aim to be a supportive employer and offer two contract options. You can choose a standard full-time contract, or our unique flexible contract that involves working at least six days a month, with extensive opportunities to boost your income by working additional days each month. This flexible approach puts you in control, enabling you to decide when to add to your earnings and when to feed your sense of adventure – to this end, we also offer learning support so that you can learn a local language in China. There is also plenty of scope for progression – which may see you working as one of our Team Leaders in the future.
What you will need
With a TESOL or CELTA qualification, or equivalent, and three years’ experience of teaching English to adults, you’ll need a flexible approach and the ability to work on your own initiative.
Apply
This is an excellent opportunity to take your education career in a new direction and explore one of the world’s oldest, varied and most surprising countries, supported by a major international organisation.
