About the Job
Overview
Dates: 22 July – 18 August
ELACP are looking for reliable, enthusiastic and creative English language teachers for our English summer camps.
There are places available both in our Bulgarian and Turkish camps. The Bulgaria camp is in Kranevo, Varna, just a few minutes’ walk from a sandy beach. The Turkey camp is located in the Beykoz forest on the outskirts of Istanbul, not too far from the coast. Or, you can get the best of both worlds and teach for two weeks in each camp. Turkey is just one hour by air from Bulgaria.
This assignment is ideal as a working holiday for experienced teachers. It is a great opportunity for people who are interested in working with children for a future career. It might also be perfect for newly qualified language teachers for gap experience. All teaching materials are provided and induction is given at the Centre. Your task will be to teach English to international students, to develop their reading, writing, understanding and speaking skills. The students are aged between 7 and 17, from beginner to advanced level. There is also a small adult class for group leaders and parents.
A big part of the programme is the drama workshop where the students learn and practise an English classic and put on a performance at the end of each session. That includes costumes, singing and dancing. This is really great fun, and both children and parents look forward to the final performance.
A typical day consists of English lessons and drama workshop in the morning and early afternoon, then fun activities and excursions in the afternoon, and evening animation.
Accommodation and meals are provided free of charge for selected applicants. All staff will stay in comfortable hotel accommodation, in a single, twin room or shared apartment. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening snacks are provided at the hotel, or packed lunch on days out. Some excursions are also free of charge. There are barbeque days and entertainment most evenings.
Applicants must be fluent in spoken and written English. He/she should have good general knowledge about life in an English speaking country and be familiar with most aspects of modern English culture and current affairs. The person should appreciate being around students of various ages. He/she should be tolerant, approachable and sociable.
12 Bgn per hour, plus free accommodation and full board.
Fluent spoken and written English and good grammar. 100 hours plus TEFL certification. Teaching experience preferred.
