Job Description:
1. Full time work;
2. Starting date: May or Sep 1st, 2008
3. Contract term: one academic year preferred;
4. Teaching load: 16-18 teaching hours (each teaching hour is 45 minute) every week;
5. Lessons to teach: Oral English (including Business English), English Writing, Business English or American Literature and Western Culture;
6. Class size: 40 students in each class;
7. Students: hard working students, whose ages range from 17 to 23;
8. Rest & holidays: free Saturdays and Sundays; 7 days for ?National Day停 in October (paid); 3-4 week啡s winter vacation between January and February (paid);



Qualifications:
1. Native speakers from UK, USA, Canada,AUS, New Zealand;
2. 20-65 years old in good health;
3. Bachelor啡s Degree or above;
4. TEFL/ESL Certificate or similar is preferred but not necessary;
5. One or more year啡s teaching experience;
6. Major: English or other relevant Humanities, Language or Art majors such as Economics, Commerce, linguistics, History, Literature, education.
7. Teaching couples are especially welcome.

Salary and Treatment:
1. Salary: a monthly salary of RMB 4,500-6,000 (after tax). Individual monthly salary is set according to the relevant qualifications and teaching experience. The mount is enough to live a comfortable life in Wuxi City and you can make good use of the holidays and vacations to travel all over China and experience the great Chinese culture. You may even save a little.
2. Accommodation: a rent-free furnished apartment on campus, which is about 100 square meters. Each apartment includes a living room, a bedroom, a study, a kitchen and a bathroom. Equipment includes TV set, washing machine, refrigerator, microwave, air conditioner, telephone, computer with internet, shower, western-style toilet and cooking utensils;
3. Round-trip economy airfare is reimbursed for one year/academic year contract;
4. 2,000 RMB travel allowance is offered per academic year;
Accommodation: excellent, most if not all of the needs of a foreign teacher are well-catered for.
Communication: generally good. FAO is easy to contact and explains in advance documentation requirements and responsibilities.

School of International Education is one of the subordinate schools of Jiangnan University (JNU). Its main duties include the education and supervision of international students, Chinese language training for foreigners and the administration of exchange programs with foreign universities.

Since 1964 when Jiangnan University begin to accept international students, she has developed many students from more than 60 countries. School of International Education acts on the conceptions of opening up and innovation, advocating rigorous scholarship, and cultivating talents. The School has accumulated many years' experience in the recruitment of foreign students and has continuously enlarged international students' scale. All the programs offered in Jiangnan University can recruit international students to pursue different disciplines leading to Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees. General and Advanced scholars are also admitted. Some majors at the postgraduate level can be conducted through English media. Presently, there are nearly 500 foreign students on campus, allocated in the School of Food Science and Technology, School of Biotechnology, School of Business, School of Information Technology, School of Foreign Languages and School of International Education etc.

Based on many years' experience in Chinese language training, we have a teaching team consisting of more than 20 full-time or part-time teachers. We offer beginner courses, intermediate courses and advanced courses for Chinese language training. We also offer various short-term learning courses; folk customs and culture courses, spare-time oral courses and holiday immersion courses to different learners, including foreign enterprises' staff (families inclusive).
The construction aim of making Jiangnan University into a characterized high-level university revolves around the co-operation with foreign universities, the import of excellent teaching resources, concepts and new modes. This has permitted us to cultivate talents with an international horizon, multi-cultural structure and good comprehensive qualities. Jiangnan University has not only co-operated with Canada to establish JNU-Lambton College, but has also continuously developed co-operation with other famous universities in England, the USA, Holland, Ireland, Australia, Japan, Korea and Canada. In the near future, there will be co-operation in Bioscience, Food Science, Art Design, Computer Science and Practice, Software Engineering, Education and Linguistics through a form of crossing courses, exchanging teaching materials, importing teachers and mutual-recognition of credits. Jiangnan University will adapt the 1+3, 2+2, 3+1 or 3+1+1, 1+1 mode to co-cultivate undergraduate and graduate students, so that students can have an excellent education both at home and abroad, and in the meantime those students who have a dream to further study abroad can have an economic, convenient and reliable way. School of International Education is responsible for exploring, organizing and implementing these programs

The School also assumes responsibilities for providing international students with living accommodations. There are more than 600 rooms with a complete-set of furniture, telephone, internet, television, air-conditioner in the International Students' Apartment Buildinl. The building offers accommodation and entertainment to create good conditions for both studying and living.

Jiangnan University, situated in the beautiful city of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, is one of China’s national key universities of the “211 Project” and functions directly under the Ministry of Education. The university dates back to 1902 when its predecessor, San Jiang Normal School, began its first term. The school became National Central University in 1928, then Nanjing University in 1949, Nanjing Institute of Technology in 1952, Wuxi Institute of Light Industry in 1958, Wuxi University of Light Industry in 1995, and finally Jiangnan University in 2001. More than a hundred years of development has brought Jiangnan University recognition from all levels of society as an excellent comprehensive university with disciplines including engineering, science, literature, economics, management, law, medicine, agriculture and education.

Currently there are 19400 undergraduates, 4600 graduate students and 400 international students studying on campus. The university consists of 18 schools offering 62 specialties for undergraduate studies. It is entitled to confer master degrees in 60 programs, and doctoral degrees in 21 programs. There are also 3 Post-doctor Research Stations open to the qualified PhD candidates both at home and abroad, namely Light Industry Technology & Engineering， Food Science & Technology and Control Theory & Engineering. In 2006, Jiangnan University successfully passed the national assessment for undergraduate education quality.

The faculty team consists of 1612 members including over 500 professors and associate professors as MS and PhD supervisors. Among them there is 1 academician of the China Academy of Engineering, 3 Cheung Kong Scholars, 1 National Outstanding Youth Foundation Winner and 22 nationally distinguished scholars. There are also two National Innovation Teams: the Industrial Fermentation and Bio-Catalysis Innovation Team, and the Food Processing Key Technology Research Innovation Team. These elite scholars have made great contributions to talent cultivation and scientific innovation.

The National key Lab of Food Science and Technology, approved by the Ministry of Science Technology, is the only one of its kind in China. In addition, 3 national or provincial engineering research centers and 7 key labs at ministerial or provincial level provide abundant resources and scientific achievement. National Innovation Teams make great contributions to the development of the university as well as the country. During the 10th Five Year Plan, Jiangnan University has undertaken 560 national or provincial key projects including “863 Projects”, “973 Projects”, the National Natural Science Fund (with research income of over 100 million RMB), and has received 78 national, ministerial or provincial awards including the National Technology Innovation Award 2nd Prize, and the National Science & Technology Progress Award 2nd Prize. Faculty members are engaged in both teaching and research. In 2006, 750 published research papers were indexed. Among them 292 were SCI indexed. From 2001 to 2006, research works resulted in 2000 patent applications and more than 900 attained patents. Every year since 2003, at least 1 project has won the second place award for national S&T progress. At the national level, and in cooperation with local government, the University Science Park functions to transfer research results into industrial production. Jiangnan University has a very close relationship with industry. The board of trustee includes representatives of well-known enterprises, such as, Haier, Moutai Group, Tsingdao Brewery Group, P&G, Seagate, and Tayoi, all of whom have made major contributions to the development of the university and scholarships to students.

The university has long been active in international exchange and cooperation. It has accepted international students since the 1960s. Dozens of foreign scientists have been invited as visiting professors or adjunct professors and various international conferences have been held each year. Jiangnan University has established close relationships with 50 well known oversea universities, and has become one of the most important academic exchange platforms in the field of light industry, food science & technology, industrial design and textile technology.

The newly completed university campus, covering 208 hectares, is located by Lake Tai, a national scenic resort in the south of Wuxi. It was designed and built to demonstrate the concept of an “Eco-campus”, landscaped with beautiful greens, elegant gardens, unique bridges and tranquil streams. The picturesque campus, with state-of-the-art facilities, provides the university with a brand new stage from which to achieve fast, sustainable development in the near future.
